Historic dsaster damage and loss data
The ASEAN Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance (ADRFI) Program, aims to operationalize the ASEAN Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance (DRFI) Roadmap and also implement the priority project on risk insurance and financing under the ASEAN Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER) Work Program 2016-2020. As part of the implementation of the ASEAN Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance Program (DRFI), the development of a harmonized damage and loss database for ASEAN countries is one of the key outputs of this program.
Risklayer GmbH supported the ASEAN DRFI program with technical expertise in the development of a customized loss database for the ASEAN Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance (ADRFI) Progreamme. For this work, datasets and a library of documents contained in the CATDAT historical loss database were adapted and integrated for earthquake and windstorm events into a dedicated loss database system for catastrophic events for ASEAN and cross-checked with other sources for the following five ASEAN countries: Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, and Singapore. The goal of the project was to develop a validated, transparent, and well-researched set of disaster loss and damage databases for ASEAN countries.
