Hospital Resilience

Risklayer partnered with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), and international healthcare resilience experts to develop Hospital Resilience, a global framework and digital platform that helps hospitals assess, benchmark, and strengthen their resilience to climate-related hazards, disasters, and operational crises. The initiative combines scientific resilience benchmarking, global risk analytics, web-based assessment tools, implementation guidance, and professional training into a comprehensive solution for healthcare facilities. By enabling hospitals to measure resilience performance, identify improvement priorities, and develop tailored resilience plans, Hospital Resilience supports the continuity of critical healthcare services in an increasingly complex risk environment.

Project Highlights

* Global Hospital Resilience Framework: Developed a standardized resilience assessment methodology that can be localized for hospitals of any size, enabling scientific benchmarking and performance tracking across healthcare facilities.
* Resilience Assessment Platform: Created a web-based platform that combines hazard analysis, self-assessments, resilience scoring, and improvement planning into a single decision-support system.
* Resilience Criteria & Guidelines: Established a comprehensive set of resilience indicators, criteria, and implementation guidance covering infrastructure, operations, emergency management, communication, and governance.
* Hospital Resilience Training: Developed a structured training program enabling healthcare professionals to conduct resilience assessments, interpret results, and develop resilience improvement strategies.
